Devprayag is situated at an altitude of 830 meters above sea level. Its nearest city is Rishikesh, which is 70 kilometers away. This place is considered to be one of the Panch Prayags of Uttarakhand state.
Naming
Devprayag is a special pilgrimage associated with Lord Shriram. There is a great ancient story about Devprayag, according to which, a Brahmin named Dev Sharma in the Sat Yuga did great TAPSYA here, pleased with this, Lord Vishnu gifted him a boon that this place will be famous in your name in the long run. From then on, it started to be called 'Dev Prayag'.
The story
This confluence surrounded by the high mountains on both sides is still in the memory of Lord Sriram's thousands of years old memories. It is a story that when Ram returned to victory by conquering Lanka, then the success of the destruction of demonic power was associated with him; at the same time, he felt the atonement blame for the killing of the Brahmin after the Ravana slaughter. Rishi-Munis advised them that they can get rid of the blame for the killing of Brahmin only by doing penance on the Sangam shore of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda in Devprayag. Shriram Lima Purushottam was, untiring survivalist How could they survive with the stigma of killing Brahmin? Therefore, by ordering the orders of the sages, they made this place their meditation place and sitting here on a rock and chanting for a long period. Ponds and priests show that rock. There are still such marks on this huge rock as if for some long time someone would have been scolded by sitting in the lap and scratched. There is a shape of steps on a rock, which is said to be the phase sign of Lord Rama.
Attractive place
It is said that when King Bhagirath convinced the Ganga to descend on Earth, then 33 million goddesses also descended from heaven with the Ganges. Then he built his house in Devprayag, which is the land born of the Ganges. According to the assumption in the Garhwal region, the river Bhagirathi is called 'Saas' and the Alaknanda river is called 'Bahu'. Among the main attractions here are the Shiva Mandir and Raghunath Mandir, in which Raghunath Temple is built from Dravid style. Devprayag is full of natural wealth. The beauty here is unique. The nearby Danda Nagaraj Temple and Chandrabadani Temple are also visible. Devprayag is also called 'Sudarshan Kshetra'. Crows are not seen here, which is a surprise.
confluence
Here is the scene from Alaknanda on one side of the mountain and on the other side Bhagirathi comes in, the scene is wonderful. Feel like watching the hours. This Sangam is also famous as the place of meeting of 'Saas-Bahu'. 'Saas' i.e. Bhagirathi and 'Bahu' i.e. Alaknanda. Like Bhagirathi, Harbakarar, jumping and jumping, Tandav-Saas arises here, it is considered a symbol of mother-in-law and Alaknanda is calm, shy-as if the form of a daughter-in-law in a locality dedicates her life. Seeing the streams of both can be seen clearly. The water of the Alaknanda is a bit flimsy, while the blue sky like Bhagirathi's nebulous sky.
